Celebrate Mardi Gras with a 5K/10K run on the American Tobacco Trail
one month before the ATT marathon

Zoe Empowers Our goal is to impact 250,000 orphaned children and vulnerable youth by the end of 2025. 150+million children worldwide are orphaned or acting as caregivers for compromised adults. We empower child-headed households to overcome poverty and move beyond charity.

Through a three-year, locally-led program, participants become safe and healthy, skilled for long-term success, and able to lead meaningful lives within a supportive community.

  • Runners will get long-sleeved tech shirts, Mardi Gras goodie bags, and finisher medals.
  • Runners over 21 will get a complimentary beer at our after party.  Food trucks at after party.

Top awards will feature original race art from well-known local artist, Jeff Christian.  Keep an eye on the race website and social media for teasers!

  • Top 3 M&F 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

  • Top 3 M&F 14 and under,  15-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65

Registration Fees:

5K Race:
  • Through Dec 31:  $30
  • Jan 1 - Feb 9:  $35
  • Race Day:  $40
10K Race:
  • Through Dec 31:  $35

  • Race Day:  $45
Registration includes a long sleeve tech shirt, goodie bag with a Mardi Gras theme, finisher medal, and a post-race party at Bottle Theory.  Runners over 21 will receive a beer at the after party.

Race Logistics:

Parking: We have arranged for parking at White Oak Elementary School, .4 miles from the race at 1512 White Oak Church Rd.  A complementary shuttle will be provided.  Carpooling is encouraged!

Dog Policy: We love dogs but we have a narrow start so to ensure everyone's safety, our insurance has advised us not to allow dogs.  

Early Packet Pick-up
:  Friday evening at Bottle Theory, 3675 Green Level West Rd, Apex, 4 - 7 PM.

Race Day Schedule:

8:00 am - Late Registration and Packet Pick-up
8:50 am - Warm up and stretching led by UNC Healthcare
9:00 am - 10K start (Start and finish line are in the parking area,  with a left turn at the trailhead)
9:15 am - 5K start (Same Start and finish as the 10K but with a right turn at the trailhead)

After your race feel free to stick around for the rest of the race site festivities or head over to Bottle Theory whenever you like.  BT will welcome you anytime after 9:00 am.  Remember to bring your drink ticket.

10:00 am - Free Kids Dash for Mardi Gras Beads
10:15 am - Costume Contest at Zoe Empowers Tent near the stage
10:20 am - Awards
11:00 am - After party at Bottle Theory, 1 mile from the Parking Area, 3675 Green Level Church W Rd., Apex.

Bottle Theory has a family friendly vibe with both an indoor area and a heated outdoor area. 
Use your bib tag to claim your free beer before 2:00 pm.
